Garden Road Adventure Playground 2017

Concept Design

A concept design for an adventure playground on an open space in Jaywick, Essex. The design is inspired by current adventure playgrounds and the concept behind junk playgrounds.

It'd be a supervised area with opening and closing times that adapt to the school term timetables. The idea is to create a community hub for the local children registered aged roughly 6-12 to attend and adapt the playground for their play. It uses recycled material such as tyres and wooden palettes that children can use to reform their environment for play, based on the concept of Emilia Reggio that the environment is a teacher as well.

The design is to be an initial foundation to which the children can transform by removing; adding to; painting; tying materials etc to create the space as their own. The playground is an environment which is filled with potential for the children to discover on their own accord. It is all designed in Google SketchUp with the use of the 3D Warehouse.
